Wondering what to do/make/buy this weekend? Get inspired by these ideas from some of our favorite bloggers, cooks and crafters...
If you’ve recently painted a baby’s nursery, redecorated a kids’ room or are thinking about sprucing up the den, How About Orange has a clever trick to recycle the leftover paint swatches. Use your crafty skills (and a little double-stick tape) to turn the chips into little rainbow-hued boxes -- kids will love stacking them and filling them with tiny trinkets and toys. (Even if you don't have any big design plans, you can pick up these swatches at your local hardware or paint supply store.)
Sure, you try to keep the little ones away from candy, but they’ll inevitably come home with sweets in a goody bag. Next time, turn treats like gummy bears into a game that tests colors (and math). Chasing Cheerios suggests laying out construction paper and helping them sort the bears into red, yellow and green -- it’s especially fun since they get to eat a few gummies (okay, all) at the end.
Keep those tiny scholars motivated for school throughout fall -- and get inspired to burst into The Wheels on the Bus -- with a cool school bus craft. The Ramblings of a Crazy Woman shows how to create a bus-themed craft with an egg carton painted yellow -- magazine clippings of friendly faces, or your kids’ own pics in the windows for a fun pretend ride.
As October approaches, warm you kitchen with some seasonal baking. We love Spoiled But Not Rotten’s recipe for Aut-yum leaf cookies. For more fall goodies, check out iVillage’s 35 Perfect Pumpkin Recipes.
