TV Recap: Lipstick Jungle

Nico, Wendy and Victory are on a night out at the jazz club. The antisocial Joe Bennett joins them, as does Wendy's husband Shane, who ends up on stage. Apparently, Shane is a really good musician! Seems like this could've gone somewhere before he took on the role of stay-at-home daddy...

The loneliness gets to Nico as she looks around and sees everyone with their husband/boyfriend So the minute she has the chance, she hops in a cab and heads over to Kirby's place. She sets out ground rules for their purely physical relationship but ends up sleeping over at Kirby's place (breaking rule #6).  Victory and Joe's make out session comes to a halt when she notices her designs in a window display- but under the name of another designer, Ricardo Bragini.

An outraged Victory is comforted by Joe, who suggests that maybe one of her employees stole her sketches. Victory insists that they were all like family, and sets out calling ex-assistant, Reese for help. When Reese shows up at her door, the first thing she says is “Please don’t kill me”. Total guilty conscience. She makes a sad pout and starts crying when telling Victory that she showed him the sketches during their second interview. They had asked for more sketches which she didn’t have time to come up with, so she stole Vic’s old ones as hers. She continues by claiming she didn’t even get the job, and that he must have memorized every single dress down to the last detail (worst lie I’ve ever heard).  And if you guys recall in the Feb. 14th episode, we saw Reese at the studio already working for Bragini!! Victory was ever so sweet, told her everything was going to be okay and not to worry about a thing. She knew that Reese was lying through her teeth so she comes up with a little scheme of her own…

Meanwhile, Wendy who didn’t want her husband’s talent to go to waste, submitted Shane as a composer on one of her new films without his knowledge. She submitted him under faux name Shane McCormick, because she didn’t want her position to influence the decision. Shane shows up at Wendy’s office, pissed because of a voicemail he received regarding the submission of his demo. When Wendy tells him however, that it was submitted under a fake name, he decides to pursue the opportunity.

With the help of Wendy, Nico hooks Kirby up with a photography stint. The star of the photo shoot is a blonde bombshell named Sasha Winters. Although it’s more than obvious that Nico is getting jealous, she invites Sasha to the charity event Bonfire is hosting. Back at Kirby’s place, she tells him that he needs to be dating other woman because she feels their relationship is getting too emotional. She insists that he should date Sasha, so he complies with her arrangements and brings her as a date to the event.

Wendy bumps into David Hernandez during an elevator ride, the guy responsible for the final cut on music for the new film. He mentions that he really likes Shane’s work and asks how she discovered him. An awkward moment passes, and she tells him that Shane is actually her husband submitted under a fake name, because she didn’t want him to get the job because of her. She goes on about being so ecstatic that he got it with his own talent, when David cuts in and says that he really wanted to tell her it was down to three including Shane, but now that she mentioned that Shane is her husband…

Wendy presses that it’s okay if someone other than Shane is chosen, and asks David not to let that influence his decision. What David is really thinking, who knows! If I were him, I would definitely say no it won’t influence my decision, but of course I’ll pick him because my job is on the line!

The revenge scheme Victory is planning involves inviting both Reese and Ricardo Bragini to Nico’s event.

At the event, Victory purposely wears a Bragini dress (of her design), and takes Reese around to mingle. Nico is apparently bothered when she sees Sasha with Kirby. When Vic tells Reese that they should confront Bragini together, Reese freaks out and offers her a million reasons not to. They take it outside (literally), and Vic confronts Reese, saying that she stole her sketches and sold them to Bragini. A cat fight breaks loose when Reese rips a part of her dress, and Vic pushes that conniving little b#@!$ into the ice sculptures!

We end off the episode with Nico showing up at Kirby’s unannounced. He tells her that she only went with Sasha because she wanted him to, not because he was interested in her. Nico wipes off the board of rules, meaning she is ready to start fresh… and be emotionally involved with him this time…? Whatever it means, it’s obvious that Nico is starting to fall for Kirby!

Shane gets the call that he got the job and is beyond happy. Wendy is feeling guilty for letting it slip that Shane is her husband in the elevator, and begins to wonder if he got the job because of his talent, or because of her…

A man Victory met early on at the jazz club shows up at her door unannounced. His girlfriend really loved the dress she made for Chloe Jamison (re: last episode) and wanted to order one. Diego tells Victory that he is a venture capitalist, and is very interested in investing in her label…

Looks like Victory is finally getting back on track! But is this mysterious man someone worth believing?
