- Parenting Preparing for Baby
Former View host Lisa Ling has revealed that that she suffered a miscarriage six months ago. In an episode of The View, set to air on Friday, the journalist opens up about the experience and how it left her feeling.
"I felt more like a failure than I'd felt in a very long time," said Ling, 37.
Ling and husband Paul Song were heartbroken when her doctor told her that, at seven weeks along, their baby had no heartbeat.
The TV personality did admit that, before the miscarriage, she was "sort of cavalier" about the pregnancy. But, when it was taken away from her, everything changed.
"We actually (hadn't) been trying that long," she says. "I don't know that I took it as seriously as I should have because it happened so fast. But then when I heard the doctor say there was no heartbeat it was like bam, like a knife through the heart."
Ling says she was "devastated" by the experience and remains fearful it will happen again. But she decided to open up about her experience to, perhaps, help others. She even created a new website, secretsocietyofwomen.com, where women can go to share their stories.
