Plastic Surgery Remorse: Lisa Rinna Gets Upper Lip Reduced

The 47-year-old reality star was bothered by how her surgery-enhanced lips "started to define" her

When you hear the name Lisa Rinna, it's hard not to automatically think about one thing: those lips! But, now the 47-year-old actress is opening up about why she decided to downsize her famous pout.

On Aug. 26, Rinna -- who has a new reality series with her husband Harry Hamlin called Lisa Loves Harry -- went under the knife to have her upper lip reduced. She finally owns up to having a silicone injection in 1986 and admits regretting the decision. "My lips started to define who I am," she told People. "That bothered me."

Rinna (who apologized earlier this year after criticizing Heidi Montag for her excessive plastic surgery) says she got tired of the hatred and jokes coming her way on the web. "It gave everyone online permission to lambaste me," she says. "It hurt my feelings."

But the star says she didn't have the procedure to silence her critics. "It doesn't matter what other people think," she says. "I did it for myself."

Hamlin, 58, and Rinna also brought their story to the Today show on Tuesday. Hamlin stood up for his wife, defending her looks both before and after surgery. "I fell in love with those lips," the actor told Meredith Vieira. "I kissed those lips for 18 years and there's nothing wrong with those lips."

He went on to comfort his wife on-air. "Your lips don't define you, trust me about that," he says. You can watch the full clip below!
