Litter Box Tips

How do I get my new kitten to use the litter box?

Here's what you can do: Get a good odor remover. I am partial to Out, which can be bought in most grocery stores. Make sure you saturate the places she's peed and pooped outside of the box, so she won't go back. Also, you can buy a smaller litter box. I've got one about three inches deep I use specifically for kittens. And is your house very large? She may just get too far from the litter box -- but it happens. If you catch her messing, say no loudly and take her to the litter box.

Most importantly, give her some time to adjust. Until you're comfortable she won't mess, you might consider closing doors to rooms you're not often in. This makes her new space smaller and more manageable and makes the area you patrol smaller also. Let her roam her new house and spend some time with you.
