Little Notes That Make Women Feel Lovely

This June, women across the country joined Operation Beautiful, a group that puts up anonymous notes on mirrors—or any other objects that can be self-defeating—that tell the viewer, “You’re Beautiful.” All they needed was a call to arms from founder Caitlin Boyle (“A lot of people need a reminder that they’re beautiful,” she says)—and a pen and paper. Their messages, and the stories that go along with them, follow.

Shown here: Boyle takes a picture of the first note she put up—in the bathroom at her office. “I try not to always do it there,” she says. “Then people will figure out it’s me.”
