Whether it's his gig on American Idol or his choice in fiancee -- Liv Tyler is always ready to support her father.
The 34-year-old actress tells People she gives her father Steven Tyler's bride-to-be, Clear Channel executive Erin Brady, a wholehearted seal of approval. Liv says she fully supports her father's engagement, which wasn't a surprise considering he and his love have been together "for a long, long time." She adds: "I like her very much."
Tyler (who is at the Sundance Film Festival promoting her new film, the futuristic ensemble drama Robot and Frank) also told People that she is joining her father in the family business -- music.
"I got to record a cover of INXS's 'I Need You Tonight' for a Givenchy commercial," says Tyler, who's the European cosmetics company's celebrity spokeswoman. "It was fun and terrifying and wonderful."
The cover and commercial are due out soon, Tyler says, adding that music is in her family's DNA.
"I always thought when I was a little girl that I'd be a singer," she says. "My mom [Bebe Buell] was always in bands. My dad. And my stepfather, Todd Rundgren, is an incredible musician."
But so far, there's one performance the rock princess has yet to check out -- her father's panned rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the Patriots-Ravens football game.
"Somebody told me my dad just sang the national anthem," she said. "I've got to go Google it."
