If you didn't know that the new Miley Cyrus movie was titled LOL, you probably would have guessed it about halfway through watching the first trailer. Although the film deals with such issues as teenage sex, partying and heartbreak, it's the laughing out loud that takes center stage in the video -- that and all the fighting Miley's character does with her mother, played by fellow celeb-news staple Demi Moore. Watch the trailer below!
Cyrus stars as a young girl named Lola -- nickname Lol -- who gets dumped by her boyfriend at age 15 and then sets her sights on dating his best friend (Douglas Booth). She records her sexual awakening and experimentation with drugs in her diary, which her mother Anne (Moore) "accidentally" comes across. Once Anne realizes how far her daughter has grown from her, she tries to bridge the gap between them while simultaneously coping with her divorce.
The title and inclusion of texting, Facebooking and instant messaging in the trailer should tip you off to the fact that this is supposed to be a movie for the modern age. The film is directed and written by Lisa Azuelos, who wrote and directed the 2008 French film upon which this one is based. (That would explain the random trip to Paris in the middle of this teaser.) LOL also stars Ashley Greene, Thomas Jane and Ashley Hinshaw. It doesn't yet have a firm release date, but will hit theaters at some point tin 2012.
