When Jennifer Aniston first shot to fame 10 years ago on the TV series Friends, her legendary layered shoulder-length haircut with flippy ends went right along with her. Not one to rest on her well-coiffed laurels, Aniston kept fans guessing every season with a series of evolving 'do's, from short, perky bobs to this season's superlong, superstraight tresses. Supersimple? Not exactly, notes Edward of Edwards Salon, a hot spot in the trendy San Francisco suburb of Mill Valley. "Most people's hair has some wave in it," he says, "and a little frizz. Few have hair hanging as straight as Jennifer's naturally." (See Edward's list of recommended products.)
STEP 1 Start with a conditioning shampoo. Towel-dry flat and add a leave-in conditioner. This will help flatten your hair down and make it soft and pliable.
STEP 2 Proceed with a combination of equal parts sculpting gel and relaxing serum, and work it through hair well. This will also help straighten and shine.
STEP 3 Blow-dry hair using a large round brush, making sure you focus the nozzle of the drier down the hair shaft. (Pointing the air flow upward will rough up the cuticle, creating unwanted frizz.)
STEP 4 Once hair is dry and as straight as you can get it, break out the flat iron. This is the key part of the style. Use a shine spray product: Spray it on a section of your hair, then flat-iron it
