How to stay on track: Instead of focusing on losing a certain number of pounds or inches, set your sights on better eating habits, suggests Jennifer McDaniel, a registered dietitian and nutrition instructor at Saint Louis University. Give yourself specific goals, such as bringing healthier snacks to munch on at work, or replacing your evening bowl of ice cream with a 100-calorie frozen treat.
