There are only three Lost episodes left, so answers are coming, people! According to this week's press release, on Tuesday's episode (9 p.m. ET), "the motives of John Locke will be explained." But based on promo clips, we'll also get some big-picture details about the island and a little history about the two foes fighting over it.
Reportedly, none of the regular cast from the first five seasons will appear. Instead, it's all about Jacob (Mark Pellegrino), Man in Black (Titus Welliver) and a mysterious woman played by Allison Janney (four-time Emmy winner for NBC's The West Wing). What's Janney's role? Lost producers are being, as usual, pretty tight-lipped.
"We’ve been talking about this character for awhile and how nervous we were that we wouldn’t find the right actress," exec-producer Damon Lindelof told TV Guide."When we first started talking about this character in the writers room we called her ‘Allison Janney’ under the assumption that we wouldn’t be able to get her." Well, they did, and fans are now abuzz with curiosity: who is she?
The Island's version of God and the Devil appear (in preview footage) to have started out as cute, playful boys -- perhaps best friends, or even brothers. Maybe Janney is their mom? In a recent interview with New York magazine, Evangeline Lilly (Lost's Kate Austen) hinted as much. "I met her in the trailer and she was absolutely lovely," Lilly said. "I think that she played Mother Earth."
So, Alison? Should Lost-ies be wishing you Happy belated Mother's Day? We can't wait to find out.
