Matthew Fox has had a rough year. From being arrested for a DUI to allegedly assaulting a female bus driver, the former Lost star hasn't had the best luck in the presses. But he's done taking the public's abuse now.
With his upcoming movie Alex Cross hitting theaters Friday (Oct. 19), Fox has decided to set the record straight about his misdemeanors in an interview with Men's Fitness. While he does admit to driving under the influence of alcohol, Fox refuses to verify his assault charges.
"In the 46 years I've been breathing on this planet, I have never hit a woman before. Never have, never will," he says. "Out of all the negative s---, the only thing that's true is that I was arrested for a DUI."
It's been five months since Heather Bormann, the Cleveland bus driver Fox was accused of beating, dropped her assault charges against the actor. But there's still the foul taste of his former Lost costar Dominic Monaghan claiming he "beats women" to get out of his mouth. It sounds like these two won't be at a Lost reunion anytime soon.
"I think there's still gonna be a lot of people out there who'll think it's true no matter what," Fox says. "I will bet you any amount of money that I will never get behind the wheel of a car after even one drink. The rest of it -- the Cleveland situation, the Monaghan situation -- was a pile of bulls--t, and I'm not gonna waste too much breath on that."
