When we saw Louise Roe on MTV's The City alongside budding fashion icons like Whitney Port and Olivia Palermo, we wondered how her style would stand out. We're glad to see that not only has her keen fashion sense matched up, her personality and confidence surpassed the reality show's silly drama. Even better, the fashion journalist and stylist is taking her talents to even greater heights, making young wallflowers over from top to bottom, and adding to their self-esteem along the way on CW's new show, Plain Jane (on Wednesdays at 9/8c). "We focus more time on the inside, the confidence boosting and the flirting techniques, than anything else," she points out. "The clothes and makeup are the fun, easy bits, but really my goal is for each woman to change her perspective and start believing in herself."
We caught up with the makeover host to uncover her secrets in style, beauty and confidence...
How would you describe your style in five words?
1970's, bright, heels, fun, French
How do you pull yourself together in the morning? Give us your thought process on how you put together a fabulous outfit?
I start with the shoe actually. All my shoes are very loud, so the rest of the look centers around that. Plus, how you're feeling makes a difference... Do I want to be in a tight dress all day, am I going dancing, do I need to impress in a boardroom or am I out with my girlfriends?
What's inside your purse right now?
Paw Paw lip gloss -- it's from Australia and the best product ever. Maybelline mascara, Jouet's Meredith lipstick, my Blackberry, a smythson diary and a pair of Gucci sunglasses I just treated myself to. They're very '70s, and I cant take them off!
What's your go-to item in your closet at the moment?
A harem jumpsuit by Miguelina in gold.
What do you keep on wearing and can't get enough of?
Minx nails -- they last three weeks and I just got them done in metallic leopard print. Trashilicious.
Where do you love to shop and who are some of your favorite designers?
Intermix, Giles Deacon, Camilla Skovgaard, H&M and Lipsy.
Give us your fall style prediction! What are we going to see a lot this fall?
Androgyny! I love the very masculine tailoring we're seeing.
What are this fall's must-have items?!
High-waisted trousers and a blazer with super-sharp shoulders. Gorge!
What should we toss? Which trends are out?
I have never been a fan of fringing and tassels. Leave that to the cowboys. Also, neon bra-straps purposefully on show = gross!
