Love-Inspired Mantel

The blog: Mom 4 Real

Why we love it: The inspiration for this mantel display came from Nicholas Sparks’ uber-romance, The Notebook. It has a classic, poetic vibe to it, and makes us feel nostalgic just looking at it!

What you need: White envelopes; water; romantic scrapbook paper; dried rose petals; wooden spools; chalkboard; chalk; jute twine; white poofs or pompoms; and clothespins

How to make it: In a cursive hand, write messages or favorite love quotes on chalkboard and place above mantel. Soak white envelopes in water and leave to dry. Tie with twine, tuck in dried rosettes and place on mantel. Cut hearts from scrapbook paper and string onto twine with poofs and clothespins; dangle from mantel. Add wooden spools to mantel and sprinkle dried rose petals in empty spaces.
