Beloved movie and stage star Lynn Redgrave, 67, sister of fellow acting legend Vanessa Redgrave, died at her home in Connecticut on Sunday night, according to MSNBC, after a long battle with breast cancer that began when the actress was first diagnosed in 2003.

The London native, first nominated for an Oscar after her role in 1966's Georgy Girl, was reportedly surrounded by her children -- Ben, Pema and Annabel -- who released a statement following her passing: "She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives."

Redgrave (daughter of British acting legend Michael Redgrave) began her career onstage in London, directed by the likes of Laurence Olivier and Franco Zefferelli; after the success of her Georgy Girl performance, she made her Broadway debut in 1967 with Black Comedy, costarring Geraldine Page and Michael Crawford.

Busy on stage and screen for the next several decades (she costarred in a 1991 TV production of Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? with sister Vanessa), the actress was once again nominated for an Academy Award for her role in 1998's Gods and Monsters, costarring Sir Ian McKellan and Brendan Fraser. She also made appearances in recent years on the TV hits Ugly Betty, Law & Order and Desperate Housewives.

The passing of the esteemed actress comes on the heels of her family's other recent losses: Lynn Redgrave's brother Colin Redgrave passed away last month at age 70 of undisclosed causes, and her niece, Natasha Richardson, died at age 45 after a skiing injury in March 2009.
