chime in now(Jemelle Joseph, 23, and Julien Joseph, 19; Lyric Da Queen, 23)
Hometowns: Bay Shore, NY and Atlanta, GA
Mentored by: Simon Cowell
About them: Lyric Da Queen auditioned as a soloist, while brothers Jemelle and Julien tried out as a group called One4Five. But Cowell saw more potential for these three urban artists together. The three singers seemed to connect instantly; in fact, the brothers joked that Cowell had found them a female version of themselves. Renamed Lyric 145, the trio put a hip hop spin on Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA," which put them in Cowell's Top 4.
Why they got cut: The group shined when they were in their hip-hop element -- but unfortunately their song choices weren't always fitting. After their clumsy mash-up of Katy Perry's "E.T." and Queen's "We Will Rock You," the trio was the first to be sent packing on Nov. 15.
