"Mad Men" clothes on my shoulders makes me happy!

One of the few shows that show real women with real bodies just starting shooting their third season and I know I can’t wait to see what they will come up with….Mad Men!

Mad Men is a show about a Madison Avenue advertising agency set in the 1950’s…with clothes that may seem retro but is perfectly in style with today’s fashion. If you caught last season, most of the clothing would fit right in with what we see on the runways today.

Take a look at Michael Kors’ Spring 09 collection…. retro prints all the way! Think summer picnic, Sundays in Manhattan with a splash of nautical. This means gingham, polka dots, plaid, and stripes!

Have fun with this! Prints for summer are a personal favorite of mine, and as I have said before in other posts, prints are great on plus figures! They can create shape and hide much more then solids, and are so much more fabulous! They can be your BFF and keep all your secrets!!

With this look you can be runway daring and mix prints. Or if you don’t feel like print on print action is really your thing you can opt for a printed skirt and solid top, or vice versa. If you want to wear a printed dress but are not comfortable with head to toe print, get a cute cropped cardigan. It’ll cut the print and add to the retro chic look. (And adds arm coverage! Donna Ricco makes a great one!)

Play with accessories with this look! You can go totally retro with layers of pearls and a clutch. Or update it with a chain necklace and a platform peep toe. Either way you’ll look on trend. (You can even try an oversized visor like the Michael Kors models…but use with caution!)

So, when you are all put together and fingering your pearls….do you want your martin shaken or stirred?
