Instead of performing a concert in Marseilles on Sunday, Madonna paid tribute to those workers injured while constructing her set last week.
According to People.com, Madge arrived in the city with kids Mercy and David, and planned to head to the hospitals where some of the workers were being treated. It was also reported that the Material Girl would pay a visit to the family of one of the men that lost their lives when part of the set collapsed. Charles Criscenzo, a lighting tech, was killed on the stage, and, hours later, Charles Prow, died at a local hospital. At least eight other workers were hospitalized. A criminal investigation has been launched into the cause of the accident.
Madonna said last week that she was "devastated" by the events. "My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news," she said in a statement.
