Make a Halloween Alphabet Book

H is for haunted house, and Halloween can be for learning, with this creative project to help children learn their letters. Making a themed alphabet book that associates halloween-related words with each of the 26 letters is a wonderful weekend activity. Plus, it can totally justify to darling husband why you've been hoarding all those magazines (he calls 'em clutter.)

For ages four and up
Indoors

Materials Needed:

  • Old magazines/catalogs
  • Scissors
  • Markers, Pens &Pencils
  • 26 pieces of paper (construction or regular computer paper)
  • Stapler
  • Glue or Tape
  • Three-hole punch
  • String

What to do:

Sit down with your children and write each letter of the alphabet down on a separate piece of paper. Next to each letter, write down Halloween related words (see below for ideas). Thumb through magazines for pictures to illustate your selections. When through, pile papers in order from A to Z, punch holes in each and tie with string for a super lesson in the ABCs of Halloween.
