Make an Old-School Bed Warmer

Rather than running the heater, try this:

Fill an old (but not smelly!) tube sock with flax seeds or a mixture of dry beans and rice. You can even throw in some dried lavender. Tie a knot at the base of the sock and reinforce it with some hand stitches. Then put the sock, knotted side first, inside the second one, so there's little risk of spillage. When you want to use it, microwave it in one-minute increments until it's warm to the touch, then place it under the covers at the foot of your bed. You'll be warm and cozy all night long!
