Vanessa Hudgens' makeup for the MTV Movie Awards was inspired by the gorgeous sequined bodice on her Jenny Packham dress and the festive feel of summer in the air. Celebrity makeup artist Karan Mitchell, who's responsible for the look, wanted the look to be bronzey and fresh, but with a sexy twist. We caught up with Mitchell after the event to get her step-by-step how-to in case you want to give Hudgens' makeup look a go...
For the Skin
For Vanessa's skin, I used Neutrogena SkinClearing Liquid Makeup in Tan #120. The concealer under the eye was Healthy Skin Brightening Perfector in #15 Medium. I lightly dusted the Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation #80 in Tan to set the base.
For the Eyes
I first used the lightest beige from #160 Garden Party Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Quad all over the eye up to the brow as a base. Then, I used the dark green shade on the outside corners of her lids and in the crease. For inside the corners of the eye and the highlight under the brow bone, I used the pink shade in the Moonlight Violet Quad.
I lined her top eyelid as well as the inside of the lower lids were line with Nourishing Eyeliner #10 in Cosmic Black. I applied a strip of false eyelashes, and added two coats of Healthy Lengths Mascara in #06 Carbon Black.
For the Cheeks
On the cheeks, I used the soothing eye tint in Petal Shimmer as a highlight on the cheekbone. Then, I lightly brushed the bronze shade of the Healthy Skin Custom Glow Blush and Bronzer Duo in Berry Glow along the hairline and under the cheekbones for a sun kissed contour.
For the Lips
For the lips, we wanted a soft flush of color. I started with Lip Boost Intense Moisture Therapy lip conditioner. The look was finished with a mixture of Super Sparkle #100 and Refreshing Rose MoistureShine Gloss.
Always a Must
Skin prep is also just as important so there is a great base to apply make-up. I would recommend the Neutrogena Wave Power-Cleanser to exfoliate the skin pre-event so the surface is smooth and ready for application. Also on a hot day, it is important to wear an SPF in your moisturizer under your makeup.
