Makeup for Redheads - Tyrone's Tips - iVillage Beauty Makeup Studio

Q. I just changed my hair color and am now a redhead. None of my makeup looks right. What should I do?

A. One of the reasons that hair color companies tell you to stay within a shade or two of your natural color is to avoid this situation. On the other hand, dramatically changing your color can be uplifting and lots of fun. The first thing to start with is your

foundation. Red hair generally adds a look of warmth to the skin, but it may bring up too much pink. Using makeup that’s a little more gold based may be all you need to make your skin look "right" with your new red hair. Keep the eyes neutral, and play with lipsticks to find a color that harmonizes well. More often than not, coral and yellow-based reds will look great with your new auburn locks. A littlebronzerapplied to the T-zone and cheeks can help too.
