Making magic: Creating your own Halloween costume

Creative Costume Clues

Don't throw away all those expensive costume catalogs. They have lots of great ideas from which you can springboard. Get your kids involved in helping you design their new costume. Children get a lot of pride from wearing something they have helped create. Good luck!

Every year children are injured in Halloween night accidents. Find a way to work reflective tape into your child's costume, headdress or treat bag. Give your child a small flashlight to carry. It is also recommended that you NOT drive your children around to trick-or-treat and NOT follow them in your car. If you need to accompany your kids, WALK behind them. In a neighborhood full of kids running around in the dark, it is important to keep as many cars off the streets as possible. Have fun, and Happy Halloween!
