'Honey Boo Boo' Mom Drops 100 Pounds Without Even Trying! Now She Should Take It Further

The reality star credits the show's busy schedule for the weight loss, but there's so much more she could do to set a good example for her kids

Mama June might not be a pageant girl like her daughter Alana "Honey Boo Boo" Thompson, but she still is managing to trim down. The Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star has reportedly lost more than 100 pounds over the past two years without any major diet or exercise changes.

TMZ reports that June Shannon has dropped from 365 pounds down to 263 pounds since production on Here Comes Honey Boo Boo started in January 2011. She credits her more active lifestyle thanks to the filming schedule for helping her shed the unwanted weight.

"I haven't done any surgeries ... no diet pills ... never went to the gym ... but with the show I've been more active," she says. "They have me running around and going different places. ... I guess it's paying off."

Who knew? A reality show can actually help someone instead of harm them! While we are glad to hear about June's weight loss, we would have been even happier if it were something she had tried to achieve. Hopefully she realizes how much healthier and happier she feels now that she's dropped so much weight and opts to change her rotating menu of Ramen noodles, cheese puffs and 'sketti for something a bit more healthy. If she puts just a little effort into eating well, we bet she could drop another 100 pounds.

But it's not just her own well-being we're worried about. June is the mother of four children including Alana, and it's up to her to set a good example. Considering they aren't the most fit family around, the fact that June has dropped all this weight should be viewed as a sign that they should pursue a more active lifestyle -- and she should serve her kids more fruits and veggies.

At least June seems to have her children's best interests at heart. She has set up a trust fund for Alana and her other daughters so that they won't be able to touch the money they've made from the show until they turn 21, and she has also said that she won't force them to keep starring in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo if they don't want to.

"When Alana says she doesn't want to do any more TV, 'I don't want to do any more pageants,' then we're done," June told Ryan Seacrest in August 2012. "We go back to our regular life like we are now. We live a normal life. Sugar Bear [Alana's father, Mike Thompson] still works seven days a week. The kids still go to school, and we still live our life normally. Nothing has really, like, changed since the show."
