Man’s Best (Overweight) Friend

An estimated 60 percent of all Americans are overweight or obese. Now our poor eating and exercise habits seem to be affecting our pets too with about half of America’s dogs and cats tipping the scales at well above a healthy weight. Marty Becker, DVM, resident veterinarian of The Dr. Oz Show and author of Your Dog: The Owner’s Manual, says there's a simple solution to both problems. “We all need to move more to be healthy," he says, "and dogs are made for movement.” Your dog loves to interact with you, so working out with him is a great way to bond. And you might have so much fun playing with your pet that you forget you’re actually doing something that’s good for your health too!
