Read on for an outtake from CosmoGIRL!'s exclusive interview with Mandy Moore.

CG!: We can't get over how your new brunette hair changes your whole appearance! Do you FEEL different?

MM: You know what, I know everybody always says blondes have more fun, but I've had so much fun being a brunette. I feel like a different person, but in a way, I feel more like myself as a brunette, as stupid and cheesy and cliched as that sounds. I feel powerful, I feel in charge. And it's crazy that changing something as simple as your hair color can make you feel that way.

CG!: Have you noticed that people react differently to you?

A: People tell me that I look older, and I feel a little bit older. People take you a little bit more seriously.

CG!: Didn't people take you seriously as a blonde?

MM: Well the blonde hair really just fits the stereotype of being the typical "pop star" so automatically people aren't going to take you as seriously. Some people have that stereotypical mindset that blondes are dumb, and so on and so forth. Now I just don't think people look at me like this 17-year-old singer who has no handle on her life -- who's not in charge, who has people telling her their opinions about things: how to dress, how to answer questions, how to perform songs, how to look all the time. I feel like people look at me now and go, "Okay."

CG:! Your new "power attitude:" totally shows in your new movie A Walk to Remember. What was it like to work with Shane West?

MM: I love Shane. He's a really great guy and he's super-talented. We became good friends. The first thing we did on the first day on the set is kiss. Like full-on. You know, because you shoot a movie out of sequential order. And this was a part of the movie where we're together and we're very much in love, and it was the most awkward thing in the world.

CG!: On screen you get to kiss Shane, but off-screen you get to kiss Wilmer Valderrama (Fez from That `70s show!). What's Wilmer like?

MM: He's very romantic, and he will go out of his way to do anything for me. Like, every time I come into L.A., he'll pick me up at the airport, no matter what time in the morning, what time in the evening -- he's always there.

CG!: Sounds like a dream.

MM: Yeah, he is.

CG!: Well, we won't wake you up!
