|Vegetable oil for the pan||1 tablespoon maple syrup|
|1 1/2 pounds ground chicken||1/2 cup barbecue sauce|
|1/2 cup chopped apple||3/4 cup panko bread crumbs|
|1/3 cup minced onions||Kosher salt to taste|
|1 egg, lightly beaten||Canola oil to cook|
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Lightly oil a rimmed baking sheet (these meatballs are quite soft, so better to bake than pan sauté them).
In a large bowl, using your hands, combine the chicken, apple, onions, egg, maple syrup, barbecue sauce, bread crumbs and salt. Combine the mixture well, but try not to squeeze the mixture too much as you blend it. Make meatballs 1 ½ inches in size and place them on the baking sheet.
Bake the meatballs for 20 to 25 minutes until cooked through.
