Maria Menounos: I Was Sexually Abused by Multiple Doctors

In an interview with Howard Stern, the Extra host reveals she's been inappropriately touched by physicians on more than one occasion

Maria Menounos has a fear of doctors, after being sexually abused and harassed during more than one routine medical examination. The Extra host revealed her shocking history of abuse during a visit to The Howard Stern Show on Monday morning. The worst incident, she said, occurred when she was younger and went to see a doctor for a throat issue. The physician told her to change into a hospital gown, and then touched her genitals.

"I was really young, so I was so uncomfortable... [My boyfriend] Keven was in the waiting room and I literally started screaming," Menounos, 34, recalled. "I was just so uncomfortable I didn’t know what to do."

The TV personality never pressed charges against the doctor, although her longtime boyfriend Keven Undergaro (rightly) encouraged her to do so.

Her story is scary -- but even scarier, it wasn't an isolated incident. Menounos said she's had similar experiences with other doctors, including male gynecologists, making inappropriate gestures like touching her belly button ring. These days, the former Dancing with the Stars contestant insists on taking Undergaro into the examination room with her, especially when she visits the gynecologist.

Sadly, doctor-patient sexual abuse is not uncommon. When Menounos told her story, Howard Stern shared that his wife Beth Ostrosky had a similar experience with a male doctor -- and also declined to press charges.
