It's back-to-school time, and Maria Shriver is facing the bittersweet task of moving her kid into his college dorm.
The former first lady of California, 56, shared a photo on Twitter on Aug. 21 of her son Patrick Schwarzenegger, 18, sitting on his new dorm bed at the University of Southern California campus. He starts his freshman year this week.
"It's very different moving boys into college compared to two girls. So much less stuff. No matching this and that," she captioned the snapshot.
Shriver's 22-year-old daughter Katherine (who just graduated from USC in May with a degree in communications) was also on hand to help with the move. The recent grad also took to Twitter about getting her little brother settled in before orientation. "So exhausted from moving Patrick into my old dorm at USC! So freaky and I'm for sure going to be waterworks all day tomorrow!"
But Patrick was much more concerned with meeting the person he was going to share a room with, telling his Twitter followers: "Going to be interesting to meet my roommate for the first time."
Despite her fame and fortune, Shriver (who's also mom to Christina, 21, and Christopher, 14) expressed her gratitude at being able to send her third child to university, saying "...and how blessed we are to be able to send him. My hat is off to all these parents and kids who work so hard to get there."
Though Shriver -- who separated from husband Arnold Schwarzenegger in May 2011 after 25 years of marriage -- still has her youngest son at home, she still got emotional over saying goodbye.
"Patrick's first night away will be tomorrow night. Send me lots of virtual Kleenex!" she twittered. "Happy for him but the mom in me is also sad."
