Maria Shriver is breaking out the big guns. In a big blow to anyone hoping that Shriver and estranged husband Arnold Schwarzenegger had a shot at a Hollywood ending, the former first lady of California has reportedly hired prominent L.A. divorce lawyer Laura Wasser.
A source close to Shriver tells People that Wasser was hired before news broke that Schwarzenegger had an affair with longtime housekeeper Mildred Baena. "Maria hasn't decided yet if she wants to end her marriage," the source insists -- but things aren't looking good at this point.
The reasons for the Shriver-Schwarzenegger split initially remained private, and there was still some hope that perhaps the relationship could be saved. But once news broke that Schwarzenegger, 63, had fathered a child with 50-year-old Baena, a former household staffer, it seemed increasingly unlikely that there would be a reconciliation. Shriver stated that the situation was "heartbreaking," and as revelations about Baena continued to emerge, Shriver, 55, left Los Angeles to attend the taping of Oprah Winfrey's farewell show in Chicago.
And the bizarre story doesn't end there. An inside source tells TMZ that Baena was "obsessed" with Shriver during her 20 years of service in the Schwarzenegger home. Baena would put on Shriver's jewelry and wear it around town, went to Shriver for "love advice," and even asked Maria for counsel during her pregnancy! With daily revelations like this, who knows what we'll hear next.
