Mariah's Near-Miss 'Leno' Stumble

It wasn't a wardrobe malfunction on the level of, say, Nipplegate, and she didn't sprain an ankle like the Spice Girl who fell off her platform shoes, but Mariah Carey did take a bit of a stumble as she walked onto The Jay Leno Show stage last night. She handled it like a pro -- but the question is: why didn't she do anything to prevent it?

After the near-faceplant, Mariah pointed to the culprit behind the accident: a loose strap on her super-duper high heels. Surely one of her entourage could've MacGyvered that thing, right?

Whatever the case, Jay, like a perfect gentleman, came to her rescue after she tripped, walking her to the guest seat with an arm around her back.

Once Mariah had settled in, she joked that the whole thing was a plan choreographed in advance to "make Jay nervous he might get sued."

Jay returned the joke when Mariah pointed out her malfunctioning shoe strap. "Yeah, I watched the guys in the audience and that's the first thing their eyes went to," the host said, making a crack at Mariah's ultra-sexy dress, which left little to the imagination.

Once they'd moved on from Shoegate, Mariah discussed her Halloween costume (she and husband, Nick Cannon, dressed as angels), her "parfum," Forever, her role in the Oscar-buzzy film, Precious, and her secret wedding to Nick.

"Everyone who went to the wedding, including the dressmaker, thought we were making a video," Mariah said of her surprise nuptials in The Bahamas. The singer said they got a lot of grief from "people that are pretty important to my life" who weren't included. The couple later had second wedding that had a much bigger guest list.

Her close friends and family probably weren't the only ones upset by Mariah's Bahamas wedding. She was late to the altar, which must've made Nick more than a little nervous.

Explaining her "timing issues," Mariah said, "I'm not always late, it's just that everyone else around me slows me down."
