Considering that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon have a $100,00 Cinderella-themed nursery for their unborn twins, we would have expected their baby shower to be similarly over-the-top. But maybe they're saving some energy for when the twins arrive?
Guests at this past weekend's festivities say that the musical couple's baby shower was surprisingly low-key and elegant -- if extremely color-coordinated.
Carey, 41, and Cannon, 30, held their their adults-only shower at the rooftop restaurant of the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills. They filled the space with pink-and-blue balloons, pink roses and blue hydrangeas, in honor of the boy and girl they're expecting. Guests (including American Idol judge Randy Jackson) played along with the pastel theme, wrapping the couple's gifts in pink-and-blue paper. As for Carey and Cannon, they were as happy and nervous as first-time parents are supposed to be.
"Mariah and Nick seem very excited and anxious about finally having their babies," a witness tells Us Weekly magazine. "He was doting on her the entire night, rubbing her back and getting her water. He really takes care of her and wants to make sure she is comfortable."
"Mariah had the best time at her shower," another source tells People. "She was very touched by how nicely everything turned out... She has been feeling a bit tired and worn out lately, but the shower was an event that she really enjoyed and that made her very happy."
So what do you get the parents-to-be who celebrated their anniversary with diamond-encrusted ring pops? Among the most impressive gifts were handmade chairs for each child and two nearly life-sized giraffes.
