Marie Osmond has been leaning on those closest to her during the very painful days since her son's suicide. Michael Blosil, 18, leapt to his death from a Los Angeles building Friday night, leaving his family devastated.
Osmond's good friend, Entertainment Tonight anchor Mary Hart, said the mom "is finding solace in her faith and her family. And I find tremendous grace in her own words [about challenges in her past]: 'I really believe that it's the lows that make us who we are. It's not the success. It's how we handle all that.'"
"You can bet she has loving arms around her," Hart added. "The Osmonds are a very close-knit family and, in times of loss or tragedy, they support each other and really band together as a family, and in love."
Before leaping to his death from the eighth floor of his apartment building Friday, Blosil wrote a suicide note reportedly telling loved ones that he had lost all hope and he felt he had no friends and did not fit in.
Hart told CBS' The Early Show that she had seen the young man alongside his mother only a month ago, and that he seemed to be in "excellent spirits."
"He had struggled," Hart said. "He had been in and out of rehab. And, Marie, always looking for the silver lining, had always hoped for the best ... I've seen him throughout the years, but on this particular day, he and Marie were so excited about him attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in L.A. They were upbeat, and he was very happy, and seemed to be looking toward the future."
Friends of Osmond's son are reportedly shocked by the suicide. Hart spoke toBlosil's roommate, who described him as "probably the funniest, happiest guy I've ever met in my entire life. This is something I would never expect."
Donny and Marie's live show at the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has been suspended until further notice.
In a statement, Osmond said: "My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael, and ask that everyone respect out privacy during this difficult time."
