Having some of the same issues with your spouse over and over that you’d like to solve -- for good? You don’t have to be on the brink of divorce or throwing dishes at the wall to seek out couples therapy. In fact, all you need is the desire to improve your relationship, says Andrew Christensen, Ph.D., professor of psychology at UCLA and co-author of the book, Reconcilable Differences. The sooner you seek help, the better your chances of working things out. “Couples often come to therapy too late,” says Christensen. If you have persistent problems that you’re not able to fix on your own, counseling may help.
