It's going to be an exciting couple of months for Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath, who has announced that he and longtime love Carin Kingsland are getting married -- and having twins!
"I'm so excited," McGrath, 42, said of the impending birth of his son and daughter, due in May. "My DNA paranoia is kicking in: I've got to feed these children. We've got to get the nursery together. And what do you do when you bring the kids home?"
"Most parents are like, 'Oh, the wonders of child rearing, but we're freaking out!" he admits. "The first year is going to be gnarly."
McGrath, who will be hosting the new season of Fox's Don't Forget the Lyrics, says he and Kingsland, 37, conceived via IVF and are thrilled about the thought of two babies.
"I love them already, but I need them to come out so I can really shower them with love," the singer said. "I can't wait to meet them."
On top of becoming parents, McGrath and Kingsland will finally say "I do" after dating on-and-off for 16 years.
The Sugar Ray frontman and former Extra host says he proposed on New Year's Eve at the Viper Room nightclub in Los Angeles, the same spot where he and Kingsland met in 1994.
"The first thing I said to her when I met her was, 'I think I love you,' " he says. When they returned to the club this past January, he told her, "'Well after 16 years, I know I love you. Will you marry me?'"
The couple isn't exactly sure when they'll have time for a wedding, though, with the babies on the way.
"We love the idea of getting married on 10/10/10," McGrath said, "but the twins might have another idea."
