Marshmallow Sheep Cupcakes Recipe

This is a fun way to decorate fairy cakes for a special teatime treat or a party. Children will enjoy making these themselves.

MAKES 12 CUPCAKES

Ingredients:

  • Large white marshmallows
  • Mini white marshmallows
  • Tube of black Writing Icing

Butter Frosting:

  • stick butter, softened
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sieved
  • 1 tbsp water
  • or a tub of ready prepared frosting

Directions:

To make the butter frosting, sieve the powdered sugar. Beat the butter until creamy in an electric mixer, then gradually beat in the powdered sugar. Finally beat in the tablespoon of water.

Spread a layer of butter frosting over the cupcakes using a palette knife and make a small mound of butter frosting in the centre.

Place a large marshmallow in the centre of the cupcake for the sheep's face. Cut another large marshmallow in half horizontally and then in half again and stick these either side of the sheep's face to form the ears. The marshmallow ears will stick naturally as the cut side of the marshmallow is very sticky.

Arrange some halved mini marshmallows on the top of the sheeps head.

Cut the mini marshmallows in half arrange them in two circles around the edge of the cakes.

Draw eyes and noses on the sheep's face using the black Writing Icing.
