As if losing your beloved dog to a hungry coyote isn't bad enough, Jessica Simpson is now dealing with a puppy-parent guilt trip from Martha Stewart.
The doggie-loving domestic diva told Us Weekly she was sad to hear about Jessica's lost maltipoo, Daisy, but Martha's sympathy was tempered with a thinly veiled accusation of Jessica's pet-mothering.
"[She] should have watched it more closely," Martha said. "She should have been more careful."
As recently as Wednesday night, Jessica posted a Tweet letting the world know she wouldn't be backing down from the dog hunt.
"Still holding out hope despite the a**holes that say is it a dumb thing to do," Jessica Twittered. "Daisy is my baby...why would I stop searching? I'm a mom."
But now, TMZ.com reports that Jessica has resigned herself to the fact that she most likely won't be reunited with her 5-year-old dog. But it's not for lack of trying: the singer-actress hired FindToto.com, a service that helps people in their efforts to find a lost pet. Reports say FindToto telephoned 1,000 of Simpson's neighbors in hopes of getting a lead on Daisy's whereabouts. They have since "discontinued the search entirely."
Martha's advice to Jessica on how to deal with the loss? "Get another dog."
Daisy had been given to Jessica by her ex-husband, Nick Lachey. She was last seen on Monday night.
