Meet your Challenge coach Mary Hunt

 

With many years of successful entrepreneurial experience under her belt, Mary Hunt felt ready to take public her credo, "Bringing dignity to the art of living below your means." As creator and editor of Debt-Proof Living (formerly Cheapskate Monthly), a monthly newsletter that premiered in January 1992 to overwhelming success, Mary has combined her expertise in business with a message that over-spenders and those burdened with debt have embraced wholeheartedly.

After 17 years in print, Debt-Proof Living continues to expand its consumer influence and subscriber base, most notably through its electronic family of subscribers via its website, www.debtproofliving.com.

Mary has become a nationally-regarded public speaker on spending habits and consumer debt. She has appeared on such national shows as The Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Morning America, Fox and Friends, The O'Reilly Factor, Focus on the Family radio show, and other television and radio shows throughout the country. Mary has also designed speaking programs for universities, corporations, and not-for-profit and faith-based organizations.

Mary can also be seen every weekday in daily newspapers across the country in her Everyday Cheapskate column. Syndicated through Creators Syndicate, Mary's column features household tips, money-saving strategies and reader questions. Debuting in January 2003, Everyday Cheapskate has been embraced by consumers unsure about the economy and looking to tighten their financial belts. In the fall of 2005 Mary joined the editorial team at Woman's Day magazine (20 million readers), as WD's money guru and contributing editor. Her column, Your Money, first appeared in the January 2006 issue and can be found in every issue of the magazine. In September 2008, Woman's Day expanded their media presence with the debut of Woman's Day Radio Network, Radio WD, at BlogTalkRadio.com. Mary's show, Your Money Solutions, can be heard every Thursday.

2006 also saw Mary's national platform expand as she stepped into the role of AOL's newest Money Coach. As a member of AOL's self-help coaching staff of experts, Mary teaches AOL's audience of more than 112 million unique users how to use their resources wisely and manage their households responsibly. In addition to her role as author, cheerleader and speaker, Mary has repeatedly been asked by corporate America to expand her scope and influence to consumers. She has served as consumer spokesperson on several campaigns including those for Procter and Gamble, Microsoft, Quaker Bagged Cereals and MCI, to name a few. Mary has found success and satisfaction in her unique role of bringing hope to many who are buried under the weight of consumer debt through her newsletter, her public speaking and her books. In 2008 Mary revised and expanded her bestselling title, The Financially Confident Woman, which followed the 2007 release of two books, Debt-Proof The Holidays in October and Debt-Proof Your Kids in January. With the 2005 release of Live Your Life For Half The Price (DPL Press) and the re-release of her 1999 bestseller, Debt-Proof Living (DPL Press), Mary continued her role to educate and equip consumers.
