Mary Tyler Moore

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation
A Type 1 diabetic who has nearly lost her vision and a limb to the disease, sitcom legend Mary Tyler Moore has devoted herself to diabetes education and research fundraising, most notably as the international spokesperson for the JDRF. She also participates regularly in events like the annual Walk to Cure Diabetes, has testified before Congress to urge more funding for diabetes research, and donated all proceeds from her New York Times-bestselling 2009 memoir Growing Up Again: Life, Loves and Oh Yeah, Diabetes to JDRF-funded research.
