We have officially reached the time of year when winter has lost its thrill. Fortunately, there is a cure for the winter doldrums, and its name is Matt Damon.
For the past six weeks or so, the Promised Land actor has been making up for the lack of daylight by turning up his mega-gigawatt charm. His latest effort at making us smile: a video for the charity water.org, in which Damon holds a press conference to announce that he will no longer use toilets. Watch below!
We love how Matt is simultaneously making fun of self-important celebrities, making fun of himself and informing us about the water crisis in the least boring way possible. (We also love the hilarious actors he brought in to play the journalists, including Stephen Root, best known as this guy.) Seriously, Matt Damon has been on a roll lately. Here are 3 more things he's done so far to cheer us up this winter:
1. He held Jimmy Kimmel hostage on live TV.
As "revenge" for years of being Jimmy Kimmel's favorite punchline, Damon hijacked his late night show on Jan. 24. In an effort to prove he would be a way better host than Jimmy, Damon had Robin Williams do the opening monologue, convinced Nicole Kidman to confess an embarrassing secret and proved that you could literally throw a rock and hit an Oscar winner in L.A. (if you're not Jimmy Kimmel, that is). It may be the funniest hour of TV we've seen this year.
2. He made fun of George Clooney on House of Lies.
Playing an obnoxious, pill-popping version of himself on the Showtime comedy, Damon talked smack about his real-life buddy George Clooney. "That guy, he puts on a Hawaiian shirt and they hand him f**king Oscar," the fake Damon scoffed during the Feb. 10 episode. "I mean, everybody thinks he’s so deep, 'cause they see him on TV going 'Grr, Darfur, bad!'"
3. He embraced the out-of-left-field gay rumors .
In a January interview with Playboy, Damon explained that the old rumors of his secret, torrid love affair with best friend Ben Affleck never bothered him. "I never denied those rumors because I was offended and didn’t want to offend my friends who were gay -- as if being gay were some kind of f**king disease," he told the magazine.
And now we can add his hilarious "bathroom strike" to the list of things we're loving Matt for right now. Hopefully he'll keep popping up at opportune moments to make us forget how long it is until spring. Meanwhile, go here to support Damon's strike!
