Maura Tierney is returning to television after her battle with breast cancer. TVGuide.com reports that the actress, 45, will be reprising the role of Kelly McPhee on Denis Leary's firefighter-themed series, FX's Rescue Me.

Tierney had to drop out of the new NBC primetime series Parenthood last fall (she filmed the well-received pilot but was replaced by Lauren Graham before the series premiere), after deciding to undergo treatment for breast cancer.

"[Tierney] has finished treatment and is doing very well and is happy to move forward with the next phase of her life," Tierney's rep told TVGuide.com in a statement.

Though Tierney is reportedly already on set filming scenes for Rescue Me, her episodes won't be airing until 2011, as seasons 6 and 7 are being filmed back-to-back.

Season 6 of the show premieres in June on FX.
