Maura Tierney Returns to TV After Breast Cancer Battle

Maura Tierney is returning to television after her battle with breast cancer. reports that the actress, 45, will be reprising the role of Kelly McPhee on Denis Leary's firefighter-themed series, FX's Rescue Me.

Tierney had to drop out of the new NBC primetime series Parenthood last fall (she filmed the well-received pilot but was replaced by Lauren Graham before the series premiere), after deciding to undergo treatment for breast cancer.

"[Tierney] has finished treatment and is doing very well and is happy to move forward with the next phase of her life," Tierney's rep told in a statement.

Though Tierney is reportedly already on set filming scenes for Rescue Me, her episodes won't be airing until 2011, as seasons 6 and 7 are being filmed back-to-back.

Season 6 of the show premieres in June on FX.
