Former child star Mayim Bialik is recovering from a car accident that resulted in a serious injury on Tuesday.
The Big Bang Theory actress (who's best-known for her role in the '90s sitcom Blossom) was driving around Los Angeles in her white Volvo on Aug. 15 when a car filled with three Chilean tourists turned directly into her car at Hollywood Boulevard and caused a collision, Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Monte Houze told People.
"From what I was told, there was a lot of blood at the scene," said Houze.
Sgt. Houze also explained that the actress, 36, suffered "a severe injury to her left thumb" and was rushed to a local hospital. But the other drivers were not cited or detained.
Early rumors surfaced that Bialik might lose at least one finger -- and sources told TMZ that "her finger was almost completely severed ... it was just hanging there." But the actress took to Twitter to reassure her fans that she'd continue to sport five fingers on each hand.
On Wednesday afternoon, Bialik gave followers an update on her accident: "(husband typing) In pain but will keep all my fingers. If u wanna see pre accident me watch The Soup tonight lol."
