Maytag Recalls 1.7 Million Dishwashers

Leakage inside the appliance can lead to a fire hazard

The Maytag repairman sure has his work cut out for him.

The Newton, Iowa-based company is voluntarily recalling  dishwashers after receiving reports of fires ignited by an electrical failure which could result in damage to the appliance and other property, as well as possible injury.

Find out if you own one of the recalled dishwashers by checking your model and serial number against the recall list on the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website. If your dishwasher is on the recall list, the CPSC instructs you to immediately stop using it and disconnect the electric supply.

Contact Maytag via its website or by phone at 800-544-5513 to set up a free in-home repair, or claim $150 cash back when you purchase a new Maytag, branded dishwasher.
