Cooking for a Cause: Meals on Wheels Wants Your Best Family Recipe

Meals on Wheels' celeb-filled cookbook not only supports a worthy cause, it may also include your favorite family recipe

Over the past 60 years, the Meals on Wheels Association of America has provided hot meals for seniors in need. With more than six million senior citzens facing the threat of hunger in the U.S., the organization's mission is more important now than ever.

Meals on Wheels' latest project is Made with Love, a benefit cookbook about family meals. They've assembled a formidable crew of celebrities to share favorite family recipes, including Martha Stewart who went back to her roots with potato pierogies and Paula Deen, who shared a recipe for baked spaghetti. Profits from Made with Love go toward Meals on Wheels' mission to end senior hunger by 2020.

Meals on Wheels is saving a slot in the book for one reader-submitted family recipe, and with big-name contributers including Mario Batali, Barbara Bush and Top Chef's Spike Mendelsohn, it would be quite an honor, not to mention a contributing to a good cause.

To enter the contest, all you have to do is come up with a descriptive recipe title, ingredients list, serving size for the dish, step-by-step instructions and include a  little background about why this recipe is a favorite, how it came to be or perhaps a few serving suggestions. Head over to the Meals on Wheels website for more info.
