Meet Sue Sternberg

Animal Rescue and Adoption

Sue Sternberg owns and runs Rondout Valley Animals for Adoption (RVAA), based in Accord, New York. More than just an open-admission animal shelter servicing Ulster County, RVAA is a learning shelter where Sue and her staff develop programs designed to create a more humane environment for both dogs and their owners.

Her initiatives include Training Wheels and Lug-Nuts, which are community-based programs intended to foster a greater understanding of dog behaviors as well as encourage creative interaction between humans and animals. Both programs have been implemented in towns and cities across the United States.

Additionally, Sue is the author of Successful Dog Adoption and was featured in the 2004 HBO documentary Shelter Dogs.
