One thing is for sure -- Megan Fox will not be returning for the third installment of the Transformers franchise. As for whose idea it was to axe the beauty from the sequel, well, that depends on who's talking.
According to sources for Variety, the studio and the film's director, Michael Bay, are looking to "take the storyline in another direction and plan to cast another actress as the love interest for star Shia LaBeouf." A studio spokeswoman said Wednesday that Paramount has decided against picking up Fox's option to star as Mikaela Banes in Transformers 3, but declined to elaborate.
But Fox, 24, insists that it was she who said no to them.
"Megan Fox will not be starring in Transformers 3," reps for the actress told People.com. "It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best."
What's the real story? We may never know, but it's no secret that there was no love lost between Bay and Fox after the filming of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen. "I read the script and I watched the movie and I still didn't know what was happening... if you understand it, you may be a genius," Fox said in an interview. She even went so far as to compare Bay to Hitler!
So, it seems like everyone will be much better off if Fox sits out of the new flick. And her absence should be good news for someone else, as well, as it leaves an opening for a new actress to swoop in and steal Shia LaBeouf's heart in movie No. 3.
So, who should play Shia LaBeouf's new love interest? Chime in below!
