The saga of Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva continues this week, as the pair face off against each other in court for the first time on Wednesday. The Los Angeles Superior Court hearing will be part of the ex-couple's ongoing custody battle over daughter Lucia, who turned one on October 30th. As of now, Gibson, 54, and Grigorieva, 40, have joint custody of Lucia. However, Grigorieva is fighting for primary custody, saying that Gibson is violent and unstable, and can't be trusted to have overnight visits with his daughter. Gibson, meanwhile, says that Grigorieva agreed on a custody arrangment and is now only interested in his money. The whole thing is incredibly ugly...
... And, hang on a minute, it just got uglier. According to TMZ, Oksana Grigorieva is now trying to prove that Gibson cheated on her during their relationship, and that he was violent toward his mistresses. The mother of Gibson's eighth child has hired an investigator to find "at least four women" whom Mel may have had affairs with, and to question them about Mel's behavior. According to the website, Grigorieva's extensive legal team hopes to find another woman who will incriminate Gibson, thereby proving that he's too dangerous to be around his youngest daughter.
When will this whole thing end? Not anytime soon: Gibson's charges of extortion and Grigorieva's charges of domestic violence, both technically separate from their custody battle, are still being investigated. But Gibson, at least, is trying to move on to other things. Although his role in The Hangover 2 was axed, he announced on Monday that he's producing a new thriller. And on the acting front, his Jodie Foster-directed black comedy The Beaver got a U.K. release date this week -- though so far, no American studios will touch it.
