Remember when Tom Cruise jumped on Oprah’s couch in 2005? How can we forget, right? But three years later we replaced that image with Cruise’s hysterical cameo in the hit comedy Tropic Thunder, where he played a hot-headed studio exec. (Even studio execs laughed and as a result have greenlit a spin-off movie based around his character.) Well, Mel Gibson is hoping everyone will forget his version of jumping on Oprah’s couch.
However, instead of professing his love for his younger girlfriend, he threatened to kill her. Not as easy to overlook. And now that the cast and crew have balked at him appearing in the Hangover 2 sequel, how soon before others follow?
We recently told you how, according to a source, Gibson feels that "everybody deserves a second chance," but we’re not sure his math is correct. His second chance came after 2006 when he made anti-Semitic remarks when being arrested for a DUI. But he disappointed again earlier this year, this time with racist comments about one of his Latina employees. When the audio recordings were posted on the Internet, his agency -- William Morris Endeavor -- dropped him. That means this is strike number three as far as we’re concerned. And you know what that means in baseball.
But Gibson isn't ready to give up on getting another chance. The actor is reportedly gearing up to apologize for his actions in a sitdown interview.
