Mel Gibson's Domestic Violence Case in D.A.'s Hands

After weeks of investigating Oksana Grigorieva's claims that Mel Gibson had been physically abusive, the case has been handed over to prosecutors to decide if there is enough evidence to bring the actor up on domestic violence charges.

By now we've all heard the shocking tapes of Gibson allegedly threatening Grigorieva. The actor went off on a tirade (to put it mildly!), telling the mother of his 10-month-old daughter, Lucia, that she "deserved it" when she accused him of punching her in the face while she held their baby. Grigorieva also claimed Gibson hit their child.

Meanwhile, sources backing the 54-year-old Lethal Weapon star say Gibson was attempting to protect his baby girl from her mother, who was allegedly shaking their child "like a ragdoll."

While the district attorney's office now holds Gibson's fate in their hands (their decision could take several months), Grigorieva is still being investigated for possibly trying to extort money from her ex.
