The bad blood between Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels continues to boil, as the singer filed new court documents Thursday, claiming that Michaels used their children against her.
In the papers, Etheridge says she was shocked when she traveled to Boston, while on a break from her summer tour on July 6, to see 3-year-old twins Johnnie Rose and Miller -- only to be served with court papers from her ex instead.
"(She) used our children as pawns," the rocker, 49, said.
Etheridge first requested joint custody of the children when she filed papers earlier this month to end their domestic partnership. But Michaels, who gave birth to the twins in 2006, then filed her own papers asking for full legal and physical custody with visitation for Etheridge.
In other papers released Thursday, Michaels, who is seeking spousal support from her ex, revealed her finances.
The former actress, who is now a full-time stay-at-home mom, has no income. She states that her rent is $6,000 a month and she spends $1,500 on groceries and household supplies, $50 on laundry and cleaning and $800 on dining out with her children. Before the split, she estimated her monthly clothing budget at $5,000. She is also asking for $4,300 a month for childcare so that she can work or get job training.
Etheridge's attorney told a judge on Monday that the singer has been giving Michaels $2,000 a month and pays all of her household bills.
Both parties cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. The couple had been together for nine years, exchanging vows in 2003.
